Introduction

In 1830 there were _____100,000_____ Māori and _____200____ Europeans living in New Zealand. The behavior of the Whalers, the Missionaries’ desire to help protect Māori rights, and the Musket Wars were reasons that a treaty was needed. The Declaration of Independence was another contributing factor to the need for a treaty.

Paragraph One (Lawyer)

One reason that a treaty was needed was the lawless behavior of some of the British Settlers like whalers.

This matters because of the lawless behavior of the sailors. When the sailors would get back from whaling. They would straight go to the pub and get drunk. After they get drunk they get into fights and once they get into fights they disturb the peace / the people that are there

Paragraph Two (Lawyer)

Another reason that a treaty was needed was to protect Māori rights. One group that felt strongly about this was the missionaries.

This matters because the missionaries felt like the Maoris were taken advantage of and so they helped the Maoris by buying them lands, and teaching them new techniques.

Paragraph Three (Hammer)

Another reason that a treaty was needed was the Musket Wars.

We needed a treaty here because the Musket war was really dangerous. People were killing each other and not getting punished. In the Musket war, there were 20,000 people killed around New Zealand this means the people that were killed were not getting jail time like now. Nowadays if you kill someone you would get a jail time of 10/20 years in prison or maybe a life sentence.

Paragraph Four (The Slam Dunk)

The final reason that a treaty was needed was the existence of the Declaration of Independence.

What happened on the 25th of October 1835

Conclusion (Robust Conclusion)

In conclusion, a treaty was needed because of the lawless behavior of killing, fighting, and drinking. and ( i don’t know )
